Davis Heated Rain Cone

Great product that's easy to install. Scientific Sales did a great job of sending it very quickly. I will use them in the future.

Heater should be easier to install

This heater should have better connection set up and waterproof power supply that can be left out in the elements. Or the Vantage Pro 2 should have optionally it built-in. The cabling provided should probably be solid strand as that is more durable during installation, if this kit remains the same (possibly 16-18 gauge, depending on the length of the run).

Davis Vantage Pro 2

I couldn't get an accurate snow melt precipitation. In February of 2023, I purchased the heated rain collector option (7721) and installed it on 13 February 2023. It snowed that night and into the next day, stopping around 11:30 AM. According the the NOAA Weather Service, we received 3.5 inches of snow. My weather station reported 0.37 of liquid snow melt. The new heated rain collector worked great! An internal thermal switch inside the cone assembly turns the heating element on when the temperature inside the cone assembly drops below 85 degrees F and turns off at 110 degrees F. There is an external ON/OFF switch connected to a junction box attached to the 24 volt power supply where you can turn the heating element off when not needed. Mine is located inside the garage. where the power supply is plugged into a wall outlet. As I write this review, the heating element is turned off and will remain so until our next snow storm, which arrives Sunday night or early Monday 2/19-20/2023.

Good price.

Just what I need to repair the heater on my rain collector. Now all I need is good
warmer weather to install it. Got the whole set for the price of the heater replacement from Davis.
